'Naya Office Office'
Office At Work: HIV/AIDS Awareness
November 3, 2006

‘Naya Office Office’ is a comical satire with shades of farce that takes one away from the regular drawing room comedies. Every episode deals with a new office, a new issue and a new problem! In focus are those moments, events and incidents that one goes through in life, and it makes one not just laugh at them but also think seriously about the issue.

The five major characters in the series are shown working in different offices, every week. What remains unchanged is their attitudes and characteristics, and Mr Mussadi Lal, our very own common man struggles to get his work done, the right way.

Mussadilal Gul wants to open an NGO for people living with HIV/AIDS and also work to spread awareness about the issue. In order to register his NGO ‘V 4 U’ he goes to the registration office. Everyone he meets there asks for a bribe. Mussadilal tries reasoning with them that he is fighting for a good cause therefore he will not waste any precious money in paying bribe.

He talks to them about the need of HIV/AIDS awareness, the modes of transmission, and even tries breaking the myth that HIV/AIDS cannot affect their lives. He explains to them about his desire to make people like them aware of the issue. Everyone in the Office gets worried after they hear what Mussadilal has to say, because they were not aware HIV/AIDS. But they still do not help him with his registration.

Finally Mussadilal meets the head of the registration office, who is impressed by how Mussadilal genuinely wants to help people. So he decides to help Mussadilal, but still asks for a cut in the donation that Mussadilal will receive. Completely dejected and harassed, Mussadilal finally aggress to pay the bribe money, in order to register his NGO as he is very keen on helping people.

After his registration is done he tells them that he is HIV positive, and that is why he wants to fight for the cause.
